TNC trails are open daily from one hour after sunrise till one hour before dusk.

All the trails are OPEN with no movement restrictions, however all visitors must enter by the visitors center and use the main trail opening as an EXIT ONLY.

Visitors who do not adhere to this policy or TNC rules will be asked to leave.

  • Our trails are open for passive recreation only (ex. hiking, walking, running, jogging, and birding).
  • Our Visitors Center is OPEN.

  • Composting restroom is OPEN.

  • The white picnic table area (located near the upper Yellow Trail) is available for use by families and small groups ONLY. No grills or cooking allowed.

Please note: Especially on weekends, parking areas may fill early. We encourage visitors to try to time their visits to off-peak periods, such as weekdays or early in the day on weekends!

Trail Rules & Information

Please respect the wildlife and their homes. Take only pictures...and leave nothing.

Tenafly Nature Center is governed by a lease agreement with the Borough of Tenafly. This agreement contains rules and regulations concerning the use of the property by visitors to the preserve. As a guest in a nature preserve, we ask that you respect these rules to keep TNC a safe, clean, natural, and pleasant place to visit. Please ensure any other people in your group or family, including children, understand them as well.
